1. Acceptance
By creating an account or using Checkser ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. What Checkser is
Checkser is a collaborative platform where registered users can create, edit, and share checklists. All published checklists are publicly visible. Editing requires a verified account.
3. Your content — licence to Checkser
When you submit content (checklist titles, items, descriptions, or any other material) to Checkser, you grant Checkser a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable licence to store, display, distribute, and sublicence that content as part of the Service.
You retain ownership of your original contributions. By submitting content you confirm you have the right to grant this licence.
4. Community content licence (CC BY-SA 4.0)
All checklist content on Checkser is made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International licence (CC BY-SA 4.0). By submitting content you agree to licence your contributions under these terms. Anyone may reuse the content provided they give attribution and share alike.
5. Your responsibilities
You agree not to submit content that:
- Infringes any third party's copyright, trademark, or other intellectual property rights;
- Is defamatory, obscene, abusive, or otherwise unlawful;
- Contains spam, malware, or unsolicited advertising;
- Impersonates any person or entity.
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You agree to indemnify Checkser against any claims arising from your content.
6. Copyright infringement & DMCA takedowns
Checkser respects intellectual property rights and complies with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). If you believe content on Checkser infringes your copyright, please send a notice to:

Your notice must include: (a) identification of the copyrighted work; (b) identification of the infringing material and its location on Checkser; (c) your contact information; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on their behalf; (f) your signature.
We will respond to valid notices promptly and remove or disable access to the infringing material.
7. Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Checklists are community-generated. Checkser makes no representations about their accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose. Do not rely solely on any checklist for safety-critical, medical, legal, or financial decisions.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Checkser and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service or any content on it.
9. Account termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, at our sole discretion. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance. We will notify registered users of material changes by email.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands.
